Johnny Brooks Chelsea

Johnny Brooks Chelsea
Chelsea star Johnny Brookes 11 x 8 black & white signed unframed. Brooks was a important asset to England however he found he, only played three times, scoring in two of the games, before obtaining an injury that halted his international career. It was back in 1956 that the former Tottenham and Chelsea inside right won his three England caps, and Brooks was more than a little proud to have worn the jersey and to have played alongside the likes of Stanley Matthews, Tom Finney, Billy Wright, Duncan Edwards and of course Haynes. Brooks’ debut for England was against Wales in a Home International (remember those?), in front of 93,796 at Wembley. England won the match 3-1 with Haynes, Brooks and Finney getting on the scoresheet. Following that victory, Brooks took to the field against Yugoslavia in a friendly, again at Wembley, which England won comfortably 3-0. Brooks again found the back of the net with Tommy Taylor scoring a brace. His final turn out for the National side was another victory – not a bad record – played three won three – this time in a World Cup Qualifier against Denmark at Wolves’ Molineux ground. England won 5-2 with Taylor again scoring twice and Edwards grabbing the headlines with a hat-trick.
