Roy Bentley Chelsea legend signed 1950's magizine page
Roy Bentley Chelsea legend signed 1950's magazine page.Roy Bentley was a feted international goalscorer whose goals helped fire Chelsea to their one and only championship title in 1955. On the fiftieth anniversary of that success and Chelsea's Centenary Year, much attention was on Roy, the captain of that great side. In addition now aged 84 Roy is still an icon at Chelsea and is regularly invited onto the pitch at Chelsea home matches and seen on Match of the Day. Having served in the Royal Navy during World War Two, a broken ankle saving him from almost certain death on a sunken submarine, Roy became one of the heroes of his generation. Having been part of Newcastle's 'Bank of England' forward line alongside the likes of Jakie Milburn, Roy represented England in the World Cup, and scored a hat-trick for his country at Wembley. He appeared in films with the likes of Joan Collins and mingled with screen stars such as Ava Gardner. He later spent 12 years as a football manager at Reading and then Swansea.
