One of the most efficient Brazilian midfielders, Dr. Socrates Oliveira Souza received global acclaim for his vision and a master of the back heel kick. Because he studied medicine, Socrates did not debut in international football until he was 25. At the 1982 and 1986 World Cups, Socrates was a key member in Brazil's squad. At club level, he played mostly at Botafogo and Corinthians. After ending his football career, Socrates went into politics. His younger brother is Rai, became a World Champion at USA 1994.
