|
Ray Wilson worn pin badges. We have a9 pin badges presented to and worn by Ray Wilson.
Any visiting footballer on International duty was given a pin badge they had to wear on their suit when attending any functions as part of the international team both in an official and unofficial capacity and we have a number of these from Ray Wilson’s career when with England.
We have had to have a look at the games Ray played for England and try and match those up to the badges the following dates are our suggestions in some cases during Ray’s England career the opposition was only played against once then it is easy to match badge and game otherwise we have had to guess.
These include I.FCN, which appears to be a Denmark club side which we would suggest would probably be one of the friendly’s England played in and around their International in July 1966
England v Portugal, this was the World Cup qualifier from the 21st May 1961. There again could be the 17th May or 4th June 1964.
St Paulo Badge, we would suggest that this was one of the friendly’s played whilst in Portugal 1964.
There is a badge with a Red Star and then looks like an FSJ which we cannot distinguish what it was although the Red Star could be one of the Russian Teams, however, we cannot confirm this and not sure about this one at all.
There is a Brazilian Badge, which could be from one of the games from the World Cup 1962 or the game in 1964.
An Everton pin badge. As Ray was one of the members of the Everton Squad, he would have worn this while on duty with Everton.
Denmark badge, this could have been worn around the Denmark game 3rd July 1966.
SS Corinthians Badge probably from one of the Brazilian trips. A suggestion would probably be around the 1964 game.
There is also a green badge, that we cannot see the writing on as it is starting to fade, although it looks like the Irish Harp on the badge but cannot confirm, it looks like one of the oldest badges of the lot.
As we have no idea of the value of these badges we are putting a buy it now price. Obviously the value is the fact that they were presented and worn and in in the possession of Ray Wilson former World cup winner and England footballer. However we will listen to any sensible offers once we can gage what sort of interest there is in them. We will separate the badges but they will not be at the pro rata price.
We will issue a certificate of authenticity as the sellers of Rays Cup final medals including the world cup winners medal, his England shirts and his England caps this certainly gives us the credibility to sell these items as genuine owned and worn items from Ray Wilson MBE. |
