Lynn Davies won an Olympic gold medal in the long jump in 1964 (earning himself the Welsh nickname "Lynn the Leap") and finished ninth in 1968, having been flag bearer at the opening ceremony. In 1964 he also competed in the 100 metres and 4x100 metres contests. He competed in the long jump at the 1972 Olympics but sadly could get into the medal winning group. Lynn Davies also competed in the European championships winning gold in 1966 in Budepest and silver in 1969 in Athens
